Google Anita Borg Scholar Asia Pacific Retreat @ Google Shanghai

I guess all Google Anita Borg scholars will agree with me that the best part of getting the Google Anita Borg scholarship is the all-expenses paid retreat. During the retreat, I get to meet scholars studying in university of different countries within the Asia Pacific region, including Singapore, Malaysia, China, India, Australia, Korean and Japan. It is quite surprising for my that the scholars from the southeast asia region include only students studying in Singapore and Malaysia. I guess it is because many female students studying in the southeast asia region do not know about the Google Anita Borg scholarship. If you are a female students studying computer science or information technology in the southeast asia region, please don't hesitate to apply! More information about the Google Anita Borg scholarship is available at this link.

I am so proud of the cute robot that my team built during the hackathon

During the retreat, we get to know about some of the exciting on-going projects in Google. We also had resume review, resume workshop and mock interview that help in improving our career search skills. I have included some photos taken during the river cruise over the beautiful HuangPu River (黄浦江)). My favourite part of the retreat is the robot hackathon where we get to build a robot that pushes another robot to the edge of a round table. Although my team loses in the one-to-one robot fighting competition, we feel very happy when our cute baby robot actually manage to push all robots out of the table during the all-robots-fighting competition (i.e., the free fight)! If you are interested in how our cute robot fight in the all-robots-fighting competition,  you should check out the video below!
